About Me
I am CEO of Britefire, a digital strategy firm based in Cape Town and working world-wide.
A UCT graduate in Business Science, most of my 30 years of experience in marketing, digital strategy and organizational development have been spent running businesses in Switzerland, England, the USA, South Africa and on the web. My work in corporate performance improvement, technology-enhanced communication and executive development has earned me global recognition.
I have moderated the E-learning social network of the American Society of Training and Development (ASTD) since its inception ten years ago, and am a permanent member of the judging panel for Brandon Hall’s International Technology Excellence Awards.
I have published two books:
Doing Business Digitally, written specifically for South African managers, and Digital Marketing: Strategies for Online Success which was published globally. My third book will be published in 2011.
I provide consulting and development services to numerous South African organizations, including Makro, SABC New Media, Clicks, Eskom, Random House Struik, Markham, Exclusive Books, WesBank, Hunt Lascaris, Media 24, MWEB, and McCann Worldgroup. Internationally, I have worked with a host of blue-chip organisations, including AC Nielsen, American Express, IBM, Nestle, Credit Suisse, Georgia Institute of Technology, Honda, Cisco Systems, Boeing, Unilever, the Library of Congress and the US Defense Department.
I am also on the Executive Development faculty of the University of Stellenbosch Business School (USB-ED), where I lead the Programme in Online Marketing Strategy and the Programme in Marketing Wine Online.
I speak at a lot of conferences and seminars. My favourite topics are aspects of digital strategy, and influencing opinion through informally networked communication, now known as social media – a subject that I have been researching for my entire business career.
